This session will provide an overview of the history of the alarm transmission ecosystem, which includes the infrastructures that connect fire and life safety entities. All fire alarm systems are required by code to send alarm, trouble and supervisory signals from the protected premises (i.e. building) to a supervising station that is responsible for contacting the fire department. The legacy technology used copper telephone lines (i.e. conductor) for sending the aforementioned signals. The technology that has replaced copper lines are cellular and internet protocol (IP)-based.

Join Honeywell as we explain these changes to legacy alarm transmission technology, review alarm transmission requirements and discuss permissible technologies in the 2019 and 2022 editions of the NFPA 72®.

This session is ideal for anyone interested in the alarm transmission ecosystem, including architects & engineers, facilities managers, operations managers, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ), etc., as well as Honeywell’s Engineered Systems Distributors and Dealers.

Attendees will receive 1.0 PDH credit.
